I'm a grad student!

So, I'm officially a grad student! Today was my first day of my first class for my masters degree in library science. I'm taking Comtemporary Literature for Children and Young Adults. I have a feeling I'm going to LOVE this class because I'm required to read books! In my opinion that is the best kind of homework. Yes, I do have other assignments as well, but they all have to do about reading! My homework for next class is to read a chapter of our text and read a novel and be prepared to participate in a discussion. I'm pretty excited. In fact I think I'm going to start reading my book right now...

My very favorite class at BYU was Children's Literature. I took it over the summer. I had two roommates who didn't do much to help with the tasks of living. I would fix dinner and then tell them they needed to clean up because I had homework to do. Then I'd go read "Heidi" or some other wonderful book. My dream - HAVE to read.
There are sooo many wonderful children and youth books out. You'll have to let us know which ones you are reading.

My the book I'm reading for the literature circle next class is Worth by A. LaFaye. I'm not too far in it yet, but it's good so far :)

I didn't even know that you were starting grad school!! That is awesome. You and your sister are both very school-oriented. I just finished my Master's last year, but I never thought I'd get a post-graduate degree because I don't really like school. :-) So where are you going and when do you have time to go to school while you are teaching?

I'm going to UNLV at night. I'm only taking one class this semester to see how I like it, but I'd like to start taking more classes next semester so I can get it done!

Way to go Andrea! Starting a program is the most daunting part. Keep up the great work. :D

It's good that you started off small, especially since you're still working. I have a tendency to think I can do everything all at once, and I've learned that it's better if I not overwhelm myself in the beginning. Time is a finite term.

Congrats, Andrea! I thought about a degree in library sciences for awhile. I've decided to go the admin route for now, but the idea of getting credit for reading something interesting is very appealing! Maybe that will be my next degree :)
